Read the passage below and choose A, B, C or D to answer each question from 636 to 640:
Although TikTok is still considered to be the new social media kid on the block, it’s incredible

growth in recent years makes it hard to remember a time when the video looping platform wasn’t in
our lives. With more than a billion downloads to its name, TikTok has not only proved itself to be
one of the fastest growing apps of all time since it was first launched in 2016; it has also now
surpassed Instagram by this metric. While Facebook and even Instagram’s audiences are ageing,
there is little doubt that the next generation of social media users have embraced TikTok. In fact,
during its first 5 years, the core audience was between 13 and 21.
TikTok has built its reputation on short, choreographed dance move videos; comedy sketches; lip
synching; short tutorials; and sound bites from users looking to share fun and frivolous content with
their friends. This style of video makes it trickier for brands to harness in the same way as the more
expansive and flexible formats available on other social platforms. However, as TikTok matures,
brands are finding better ways to leverage the huge user base – often through influencers but also
increasingly through official accounts that are reimagining what an organisation can share.
The Met ( The Metropolitan Museum of Art) was one of the first museums to launch an official
account on TikTok and was a trailblazer in creating content to engage the app’s young audience.
One of The Met’s first initiatives back in 2019 was an art contest created to inspire users to
showcase their best imitation of an artwork scene or act like art figures. This global challenge
included an impressive prize of an all-expenses paid five night trip to New York, and the chance to
be among the first to visit the Spring 2019 Costume Institute exhibition. As Kenneth Weine, Vice
President and Chief Communications Officer at The Met, said at the time: “TikTok reaches
hundreds of millions of users, many of whom are art enthusiasts. We look forward to deepening our
connection with this audience, and to seeing the multiple creative ways they engage with The Met
collection.”
For museums, TikTok is a unique challenge. But there are a growing number of examples of
institutions effectively running accounts, distributing content and reaching new audiences by
investing time and energy into the platform. And this has shown itself to be a worthwhile endeavour – not least because the pandemic pushed the already large TikTok audience into a global explosion
of users.

Read the passage below and choose A, B, C or D to answer each question from 641 to 645:

OH, NO! NOT ANOTHER TEST
Think about the last test you took. How much of what you learned for the test do you remember?
Many people take tests to pass a course or get a promotion, but they often forget the information
afterward!
This is especially the case for people taking large international tests like TOEFL or IELTS. These
tests usually involve multiple-choice questions, and people often study to increase their scores, not
to learn important information. In fact, educators are divided on whether these kinds of tests are the
most effective way to assess a person’s abilities.
Those who support such tests say they are the only way for educators and employers to compare
people based on their test scores. However, there are people trying to reform this
system. They believe that standard tests aren’t the best way to measure a person’s ability. These
reformers also believe that intelligent people are not always good at taking tests or memorizing
facts. A multiple-choice test cannot always tell what people have learned, or whether they can apply
that knowledge in the future.
Reformers believe that other types of evaluation achieve better results. Tests that contain a mix of
written and spoken questions give a more complete assessment of what the person is capable of. A
portfolio, or a collection of work done throughout a course, can show how much the student has
improved individually. Group interviews, where a group of people are interviewed at the same time,
can also be useful for employers, since they show how people 20 interact with others.
Alternative educational institutions such as Montessori and Waldorf schools don’t believe that
education should be focused on testing. At these schools, the classroom is very relaxed and ”free,”
with students learning from each other as much as they learn from teachers. Some of these schools
even allow students to choose what they study.Teachers create activities designed to let students
show their abilities or knowledge of a certain subject. In these schools, the focus is on learning by
experiencing and doing things.
The debate on testing continues, and educators have yet to find a perfect method of evaluating
learning. Until that day comes, old test methods will be used and new test methods will continue to
develop. But one thing’s for sure, testing will continue to play an important part in all our lives – so
study hard!
